Abstract

This book outlines Amazigh lexicography's theoretical and methodological underpinnings. The author examines the main concepts related to dictionary compilation, particularly the notions of macrostructure and microstructure as well as the different types of lexicographic information. He draws attention to some of the shortcomings of the Amazigh lexicographic tradition and stresses the necessity of strengthening current practices by incorporating complementary approaches such as the onomasiological approach. The book concludes with the presentation of an experience in compiling a Kabyle–French dictionary, illustrating the theoretical principles discussed. This work makes a significant contribution to the advancement of Amazigh lexicography by articulating academic thought and practical application.
