The “Lewziɛa” Olive Harvest Tradition in Mezkouane Village, Babors Region

Abstract

This study examines the "Lewziɛa of the olive harvest" in Maẓek-wan, with an emphasis on its cultural and social significance as well as its transformation over time. The central aim is to examine how this tradition reinforces local identity and maintains communal prac-tices in contemporary society. Findings indicate that, despite a de-cline in the economic and social importance of the olive industry, the festival remains vibrant among the younger generation, that incorpo-rates modern technological tools in its organization. The research also highlights the festival’s role in fostering solidarity and communi-ty participation, as both residents and local associations actively con-tribute to its planning and execution.
