Anthropological analysis of social regulations in village heritage management

This paper analyzes the mechanisms of social regulation in the villages of Takorabt and Ayaten (Bejaia) concerning the management of collective heritage. It examines how the tajmaεt (traditional village institution) maintains its authority in the face of coexisting multiple normative frameworks : customary law (Qanun), Islamic law (sharia), and Algerian law. The study reveals the pragmatic strategies of communities that selectively mobilize different legitimacies depending on the situation. This dialectic between endogenous governance and external constraints illustrates the adaptive capacity of village communities facing contemporary legal transformations in the administration of common property.
