Abstract

The ancient cultural legacy that underpins Kabyle theatre has been modified over the ages to accommodate social and political shifts. This theatre has been crucial in passing down Amazigh identity since its inception in group rituals and its institutionalisation after colonisation. Famous people like Moḥya have contributed to the genre's modernisation while maintaining the Kabyle language and culture. Today, the challenge lies in integrating new forms of stage expression while maintaining its cultural foundation.
